Toro
Objectives
- Improve passing accuracy
- Develop game vision and anticipation
- Increase ball movement speed
- Improve awareness of teammates’ positions
Equipment needed
- Balls
- Plates (to mark out the circle)
- Bibs (optional, to differentiate between teams)
Age group
- Junior G to adults players
Number of players
- Minimum of 4 players
Theme
- Warm-up
- Passing
Duration
- 5 to 15 minutes
Organisation
- Arrange the plates in a circle or square (adjust the diameter according to the age and number of players: 8m for F and up to 15m for active players). Place the players between the plates around the circle with 1 ball. A defender stands in the centre of the circle (often the last to arrive at training). The attackers keep enough distance between them to allow for clean passes.
Procedure
- The attackers make quick passes to each other in a circle.
- The defender in the centre tries to intercept the ball.
- If the defender touches the ball or intercepts a pass, they swap places with the player who made the mistake.
- If 10 (or a number to be defined) passes have been made, the defender does another round.
Variations
- Increase the difficulty: add defenders.
- Reduce the space: decrease the diameter of the circle.
- Limit touches: maximum 2 touches per person. (1 for advanced levels)
- Rotate positions: after each pass, the player moves to a new free position
